Festival of Nations

Abby performed at the Festival of Nations at the Akron Civic Center last night. It was a long night because they saved the O'Hare Irish Dancers - the best act - for last. It was still enjoyable as we tasted multi-cultural cuisine such as Irish cabbage & noodles; Italian pizzelles; Indiana stew; German donuts and a few other things. Here are the highlights from the 8 nations that performed on stage.

Last House Hockey Game

Yesterday, Andrew had is House Hockey season-ending banquet and game. The night started off with a presentation of awards to all the skaters, followed by family open skating, and finishing off with a hockey game. The open skate tired the kids out because they lost 8-0. Andrew had some real nice shifts, and only one goal was scored against his shift (the first goal scored on his shift of the season). Andrew will be doing a Top Shelf skating program this Spring in preparation for next hockey again next Winter.

Last Day for Scouts

On Thursday, Andrew graduated from Webelo to Boy Scout. Even though he will not be pursuing Boy Scouts of American any longer, it was a nice ceremony and good fun the past few years.

As this season's American Idol enters its final 24 competition, I am reminded of the evanescent performance by Angie in the 2008 Season (vintage Hollywood Four).

Andrew Activities

Just a couple highlights from Andrew's activities the past two days. Last night, he and Mom attended Ski Club and Mom shot a short video clip. Today Andrew attended the boy scout Pinewood Derby race. Given that his car was decorated with a Detroit Lions motif, it's not surprising his car finished 7th (out of 8 cars).

Andrew Belt Testing

Andrew belt tested on Wednesday of this week as part of his continued spiritual journey through the art of Taekwondo. He already holds his First Degree Black Belt (or Poom), so yesterday's test was the eighth level test on way to his Second Degree Black Belt (see more on the belt system).
