Dance Out in Mogadore

Today Abby had another Irish "dance out" performance in Morgadore, OH at the local car show and summer festival. Here are the usual highlights.

Golfing with Andrew

After golfing twice with Grandma Carole last week, Andrew got his golf groove back after taking last year off (he took lessons two years ago). As a result of his renewed enthusiasm, he received a new set of junior golf clubs as an early birthday gift. Dad took Andrew to Ridge Top Golf Club to try them out. Although he has some work to do (as do we all), Andrew shot pretty well finishing with a 69 (Dad shot a 42). Here are a couple quick clips we shot (look out Tiger!).

Orioles Lose in Semi-Finals

The Orioles clawed their way to the semi-final game and gave the 14-1 Twins a run for their money in the semi-final series of the MYBA playoffs. After 4 innings, the Orioles were down 2-4, but the strength of the Twins kicked in during the final two innings resulting in a 2-10 loss. The Twins, with the best pitching and fielding team in the league, proved too powerful for the Orioles. Andrew played 3B, 2B, 1B and OF (this after playing golf this morning and then having hockey practice two hours before baseball). He also hit two line drives that ended up in outs due to some nice defense by the Twins (but just hitting the ball off Twins pitchers was better then most of the Orioles offense could muster this evening). All-in-all, it was a great season as the Orioles finished 11-6 on the year and all showed great improvements as the season went along. Nice job!

Dance Out in Parma

Tonight a few of the O'Hare Irish Dance girls (including Abby) performed at the St. Charles Borromeo Parish in Parma for their Summer Festival. First the girls marched in a short parade across Parma led by a local Scottish bagpipe band. Then the girls performed and were followed by Brigid's Cross (an awesome, cult fave Irish band). Grandma Carole was even on hand to watch it all! Here are a few highlight clips (missing sound bites and bad video quality, however).

Orioles Upset Indians in Playoffs R2

The Orioles had their second MYBA playoff game tonight. The now 10-5 Orioles took on the first place 13-1 Indians who were coming off of a well-rested first round bye. But the Orioles were up to the challenge storming out to an 11-2 lead. Andrew walked his first AB, got hit with a pitch his second AB and hit a line-drive out his third AB. He scored a couple runs and had a couple stolen bases. He also pitched the 3rd inning and started the 4th inning. However, with the score 12-6, he got pulled after giving up a couple hits and a walk - mostly as a stall tactic to delay the need for starting the 5th inning (since we were close to the 1:45 mark in which a new inning cannot be started). The tactic failed however, as the Indians scored 4 runs and ended the inning with 4 minutes left necessitating the need for a 5th inning. But the Orioles stormed back again scoring 5 more runs and shutting out the Indians in the bottom of the 5th inning to end the game with a 17-10 final score. Next game is Thursday against a very tough 14-1 Twins team (it's the last team the Orioles lost against 7 games ago).

Orioles Defeat Tigers in Playoffs

The Orioles had their first MYBA playoff game tonight. The 3-11 Tigers took on the 9-5 Orioles. It was Andrew's first game back with the team after missing the last four due to vacation in Michigan ... and the rust showed as Andrew was called out on strikes in his first AB. He shook it off, however, and drew a base-on-balls his second AB and scored a run. He also played RF, 1B and 3B as the Orioles beat the Tigers 13-1 in a mercy-rule ending after 3.5 innings of play. Next up the Orioles take on the 13-1 Indians tomorrow night.

Broadview Heights Festival

Abby (and her friend Jackie) danced at the Broadview Heights Home Days on the Green Festival tonight. Also present was special guest, Grandma Carole.
